TITLE: DEPUTE PROJECT MANAGER
PROJECT: WHAT IF
RESPONSIBLE TO: PROJECT MANAGER
JOB PURPOSE: TO PROVIDE A COMPREHENSIVE AND HOLISTIC SERVICE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE AGED 18 – 25 AND WHO ARE COPING WITH A RANGE OF DIFFICULTIES AND ISSUES CAUSED BY PAST TRAUMA AND/OR ABUSE.THE PROJECT WILL PROVIDE MEDIUM TERM ACCOMMODATION AND SUPPORT TO 32 YOUNG PEOPLE WITH A VIEW TO ASSISTING THOSE INDIVIDUALS TO ACCESS SUSTAINABLE LONGER TERM, MORE INDEPENDENT ACCOMMODATION..THERE ARE TWO GENDER SPECIFIC PROJECTS UNDER THE WHAT IF UMBERELLA, EACH SUPPORTING EITHER 16 YOUNG MALES OR 16 YOUNG FEMALES. THE FEMALE PROJECT WILL USE A FEMALE ONLY STAFF TEAM.
THE PROJECT WILL ADOPT A THERAPUTIC MODEL OF PRACTICE AND HOLD THE PRINCIPLE OF NON-EXCLUSION AT THE CORE OF ITS WORK.
OBJECTIVES:
- To contribute to the formation of operational policies for the project, to participate in the recruitment and selection of staff and to take an active part in establishing and developing the project.
- To establish and maintain a good working partnership between the project, Glasgow City Council and other relevant organisations.
- To ensure that there is a high standard of organisation, administration and management in the project.
- To maximise the professional and personal development of all members of the staff team within the project.
- To ensure that Quarriers and all others with responsibility for monitoring/oversight of the project's activities are provided with the fullest reports on all matters relevant to the development and operation of the project.
KEY ACTIVITIES:
- Assessment, monitoring and devising appropriate responses to the needs of the young people being supported by the project.
- Promoting inter-agency approaches to meeting the needs identified.
- Offering a direct support service to young people who meet the admission criteria of the project.
- The supervision and direction of all staff appointed to the project. Organising project team meetings and participating in Quarriers internal meetings as appropriate, deputising for the Project Manager when appropriate.
- Maintaining a system of recording the work of the project and the progress of individuals within it. Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of the project and plans for its future development.
- Promoting the involvement of all project staff in relevant staff development and training programmes
- To undertake any other duties or responsibilities which are commensurate with the post.
- To undertake responsibility for, and to ensure the maintenance of healthy and safe systems of working within the living and work environment for all young people, staff and visitors to the project.
GENERAL TERMS OF REFERENCE:
1. In carrying out the above activities, the Depute Project Manager will seek to promote the aims and values of Quarriers and operate within its policy guidelines.

- To contribute to the formation of operational policy and to the development of practice within the project.
KEY ACTIVITIES:
- To create a safe, nurturing and enabling environment, which assists young people in need of medium term supported accommodation
- To engage creatively in the project’s referral process and participate in devising support plans relating to each young person’s need at the time of admission
- To work directly with young people within the project, offering support and informal counselling, using the widest range of individual and group work methods.
- To work collaboratively with outside agencies offering individual specialist support to young people.
- To undertake keyworker responsibilities in relation to specific designated young people in accordance with the project’s established policy and practice on key working in relation to the supported accommodation element of the project.
- To record all work undertaken to a high standard of accuracy and detail.
- To participate actively in team meetings and all other forums aimed at developing policy and practice within the project.
- To participate actively in supervision sessions with the relevant Depute Project Leader
- To uphold the values, principles and policies of Quarriers and to operate at all times within the agency’s relevant policy guidelines.
- To work within Quarriers’ professional and administrative policies and practice guidelines.
